Alright guys. Here is my submittal for this week's assignment I had a lot more ideas along this line of thought, but just didn't have the time to implement them. I'll post the lighting setup pics a bit later tonight.

4 Lights were used for the shoes. I think I probably ended up with 3 separate exposures. I'm happy with it overall, but I do realize there are some hot spots on the edges that are nuked.

Just finished watching the Hangout. Sadly, I joined after you all reviewed my pic so i had to go back and watch it, but I really appreciate and completely agree with the feedback. I'll fix the laces, darken the bottom corner, and then add it to my portfolio. Dave, Alex…Thank you very much for the comments.

Dave, it's funny you should mention how the shoes look too clean to be hanging. I had several more ideas along the same lines (excuse the bad pun) that were a bit more ambitious for just a weekly assignment that addressed that fact.

My initial idea was to have hands reaching from the bottom for the shoes, but because of the perspective and the height, it wouldn't have made much sense. From that concept, a light bulb went off in my head. I started thinking…personifying the powerlines a bit, what if the powerlines actually realized how nice the shoes were and felt possessive over them? Just a few of the ideas that I came up with…what if the powerlines used electricity to protect the shoes from either a squirrel or bird running across the powerlines? What if the powerlines themselves reshaped into a faux foot to try the shoes on? What if the powerlines were actually lacing the shoes up?

I had a ton of ideas, but some were just a bit too difficult to pull off in a week. Maybe something I'll look at a little down the road. And I appreciate you all noticed the 3's. I actually named the photo "Rule of Thirds", which if you'll notice, I also used in the image. :D
