PHOTIGY Live is a Google+ hangout that happens every Wednesday Thursday at 10PM Eastern. It started out with a small group of like minded photographers who really love being in a studio shooting products.
Alex Koloskov, his wife Genia Larionova and Dave Nitsche started this idea early in 2012. Alex is a master of studio work with an incredible knowledge of how light works and everything technical. Genia is a photoshop guru full of incredible ideas with an amazing eye for color.
Dave is a conceptual artist who focuses on emotion within the frame and knows a thing or two about lighting also. They thought that hosting a hangout would be a great way to bring two different views and insights to people who would like to understand studio work better.
The hangout has morphed into 2 pieces. Every other week a subject is assigned for an image and one key component must be to have some form of emotion in it. Anyone interested can shoot for that topic and post their images here on Photigy forum. Then on Wednesday night Alex and Dave discuss what they like and don’t like about the images with input from the others in the hangout. On the weeks with no assignments special guests are brought in to talk about the business side of photography.
What started as a few people and has grown into a large group of wonderful photographers. Each week the hangouts offer a place to learn, express ideas and talk about something everyone in the group is passionate about. It’s always light hearted, always informative and will leave you with a desire to grab your camera and explore…
