And Understanding Lens Diffraction @ luminous-landscape.com
I also have a good demonstration of what too much F number could do to $30.000 camera: Hasselblad H4D-50 against Canon 1Ds MarkIII: what do we get for the money?

One more thing I want to add about lens and its maximum “good enough to shoot” aperture is this:
master your lens. Set it on a tripod,  aim at something with lots of contrast lines, etc (lens chart is made for this) and shoot from wide opet to fully closed.

This way you’ll know your particular lens “working” range and would never get a surprise while reviewing images in Lightroom.

All the best!
