    Hi,

is the Godox AD400 Pro flash a good choice for product photography?

I am looking to improve the quality of the light and Profoto seems terribly expensive, now I work with Elimchrome BRX500.

    Thanks in advance

      Hello
      I will expand the query

I am dedicated to product and food photography. I am working with:
      1 elinchrom BRX500 flash
3 Yongnuo YN 560 III speedlights

My idea was to replace these flashes with the Godox AD400Pro, AD600Pro and perhaps 1 Godox V1, to improve the quality and be able to change the power of the flashes without having to move.

Are these flashes (Godox AD400pro – AD600Pro) suitable for this type of photography? I have heard that they are quite stable.

This was my initial idea until I have seen your videos and you give a lot of importance to modifiers, in the end light is light and the importance of modifying it.

I have the doubt to keep the old flashes and invest in better modifiers.
      Now I work with:

      1 Softbox (starlink) of 60x90cm (2×3 ”)
      2 Stripbox (godox)
      1 Octabox elinchrom 95cm (3 ”)

I usually remove the front diffuser cloth and instead use a banner with diffuser paper.

I have thought about replacing these better quality diffusers like the Profoto brand, is this a good idea? Do you advise me of other brands that give good results? I am looking for quality.

Is it a good combination of Godox flashes and profoto softbox?

Thanks in advance, and for the great contribution you make with your videos.

      Thanks

Hello Justiniano. Sorry, we must overlook your questions.
So, I personally have no experience with these Godox, but as far as I know and see on a spec – they will be good for product photography. Just keep in mind that you won’t need a battery-powered flash if you’ll be working only at the studio:-)

As for the light mods – I’d suggest you add a fresnel lens to your list, a few of them – they are quite useful:

As for profoto diffusers – they are probably good, but I am not sure if they will be significantly better (looking at the end result) comparing for less expensive ones. I use DIY diffusers with a great success:-)

      Hope this helps. good luck!
