I made a portal with glowing spirals just like the blue one in the original which took less than an hour. Then I played with several different portal colours and different products until I ended up with yellow spirals which to me looked like heating elements. Then I only had to add a toaster to fit into this theme and tweak the lighting and materials. It looked a little lonely on its own so I added some hot buns on top.
