Ric MatkowskiParticipantKindly review my submission for WS 31 which is long past. ‘Perfume on Fire’….using 2 diffusion panels, 2 strip boxes, translum backdrop, and CTO blue gel on Speedlite for backlight. Handheld reflector used to help highlight product label. Canon 7D, 70mm (24-70 L lens), ISO 160, f/11, 1/200
Much of the backdrop was modified in PS.
The fire was shot separately using methanol providing blue to a yellow flame. Canon 7D, 35mm (24-70 L lens), ISO 1000, f/3.5, 1/30

Ric MatkowskiParticipantMy submission for critique is on WS 51 held before I became a Pro Club member.
Final shot, BTS and lighting diag attached.
Bottle shot with Canon 7D, 60mm (24-70mm L lens), f/11, 1/200, ISO 320
Held ISO higher to push power from lights.
Background created in PS using a couple of textures…trying to replicate the finishing on the bottle, i.e. diamonds and squares.
-
Ric MatkowskiParticipantHere is my submission for WS 50 held prior to my joining.
The milk splash (whole milk + white glue), fruits and then cereal were all shot separately.
Lighting…24×24 key, strip box rim, small beauty dish/speedlite on Savage translum panel for background
No laser trigger for capturing splashes or cereal. Shot with the help of an assistant (my wife!).
Composite all in Photoshop.
-
Ric MatkowskiParticipantSubmitting two photos, a BTS shot and a lighting diagram for my submission for past workshop #64.
Lighting…2 GoDox A200 Pro, 1 speedlight, 2 strip boxes, two Savage translum diffusion panels. Lighting through back panel was using a gelled, 20deg honeycomb grill.
Canon 7D, f/10, 1/200, ISO 400.
No laser trigger…dropping subject and capturing with handheld remote shutter release.

Ric MatkowskiParticipantHere is my final image plus BTS and Lighting Diagram for past WS #67 ‘Advertising Cognac’. I look forward to your review and comments.
The final image is a single shot, 3 light (2 x Godox AD200 Pro & 1 Speedlite) set up using 1 diffusion panel for the gradient on the left side of the bottle and a bare strip box on the right to get some edge lighting. A handheld silver reflector was used to push more light on the label. The Speedlite with red gel and 20 deg honeycomb grid was used through a diffusion panel from behind to brighten the bottle contents.
The flower & pine needles are a separate stock photo.
Editing is done in Photoshop.
Canon 7D with 65mm (24-70 mm ‘L’ series lens)

Ric MatkowskiParticipantHere is my homework for WS 49 – Dynamic Glass Shot With Splashes. I look forward to your critique.
Some key learnings….a shorter glass might have given me more splash…I was dropping these from quite a height but likely loaded with too many ice cubes and the lemon slice…all of which interfered with the splash!
Canon 7D…36 mm on 24-70 L lens
ISO 200 to ensure I could stay below 1/4 power on the AD200s
f/10 -
Ric MatkowskiParticipantMy homework for past workshop #57 “Creative Beverage”. Thank you for making the time to critique my submission.
Sparks created using a grinding wheel with a metal tube.
Canon 7D, ISO 200, f/10, 43 mm on 24-70mm L lens, 1/200 for bottle and glass
Sparks captured without flash, 1/8 shutter, f/ 3.5
Composite in Photoshop
