Well, I wasn’t going to submit an image since I don’t do product photography, but, seeing that there are only two images, I thought, why not? This is a frozen soap bubble. One of the challenges I am having is depth of field. My current camera is a canon T2i. (Yes, I know, it’s only 18 MP but it is what I can afford) I use extension tubes for these shots.

Thank you for the review. I apologize for the lack of lighting set up information.

I know this is not a product, per se, but it is a small thing like a ring or other small item would be and so I thought you might have some helpful feedback. It is actually a soap bubble in the process of freezing. They freeze quite quickly and then collapse so there is not a lot of time for adjustment. The ice is actual snow and it may have been a bit dirty or it might have just looked that way because it was night time. The lights were two small but bright flashlights to the sides with a color changing LED light behind the bubble and a small string of multicolored led lights also behind the bubble.

Depth of field is a real challenge. This bubble is about 1 to 1 1/2 inches in size. I have tried different methods of getting more depth of field without much success. Perhaps there isn’t any way to do it, but I thought it worth asking.

I found your review very interesting (And I apologize again, as this was not really what you were asking for but you were very gracious about it.) and quite as helpful as I expected it to be regarding points to work on going forward. Like getting a more even distribution of the led lights in the background. And the shape of the side lights. I think I can make the flashlights into narrow lights for the sides with some paper, so that is something to try. I am currently working very frugally and this all has to be outside because that’s where the cold is.

I don’t expect an answer to this reply, just wanted to put the information here for those who might be curious enough to look and to say Thank you.
