I built the thing, not an easy task. But not so complex as well, just time consuming, instruction could be more clear, measurements, more images and close ups to show connections, I had to guess and estimate.

My issue now after all is done, the magnet. It is not holding for some reason, very very week magnet. All the connection were done correctly, but for some reason it’s not holding anything. Did anyone had a problem with that?
As you can see in the picture, 2 wires go out to the magnet and 2 to the release bottom and we connected to 110/220. Not sure what we doing wrong! It looks like it’s getting red light in the transformer and release is working but the magnet is very very weak.

I built this as well and when I got to the magnet I felt defeated because I experienced the same issue. After troubleshooting I found the bolt I used to connect the metal strike plate stuck out just a hair past the plate. This caused an issue with the strike plate not touching flush against the magnet. Having the strike plate and the magnet aligned and touching flush is extremely important. Once I found a screw that had a more flat head and secured the strike plate so nothing interfered with the magnet and the strike plate it worked perfectly. Believe me, the connection can seem really weak until the two align perfectly then the force really kicks in and makes the whole thing work.

Hello Tsour, it either power or not aligned well with the metal plate (opposite).
take a look about springs, the video I’ve recorded for you:

Yes, exactly what Michael said. To make it align well I made a plate to be little flexible. Every time I push them together, it aligns by itself because of the flex.

Can you please show me a photo/video on the rig you built?
