Hello,
this was a hard one for me. As I could not find Encapso localy I ordered it from Netherlands. Of course the package did not arrive yet so I had to find another solution. I searched and found a local supplier with some alternative to Encapso. I tried it, but the problem was it never cured fully, even though I waited for 48 hours (it should be ready in 24hours). The front part of the material was ok, the back part not unfortunately.
Regardless, I removed the scene from the mould and tried to shoot it. It was very sticky, so I could not crush it. Therefore just a picture of cans encapsulated in “ice”.
Lighting set-up:
– 1 striplight camera right, shooting at an angle through another screen – main light for the subject
– 1 screen on camera left, with spot light (strobe is not visible in the image) – fill light
– 1 strobe camera left and behind – “hair” light, to accentuate the formation of the ice
– 1 strobe with 2 blue gels for the backgroundYou can see I had to wrap an arm in foil, to prevent it from getting sticky.
Anyway, fun experience, hopefully I will repeat it soon with Encapso.
I look forward to your CC!
Best regards,
Jure/Yuriy
