I bought http://www.agnos.com/prodotti.htm?v_lingua=ENG&v_categ_lista=P0000-P0003-P0701 for about €400 6 years ago and it’s still working. It has wired remote for common cameras, and comes with a funny kind of 1970s computer for programming the number of stops on the circuit, acceleration / deceleration, speed. The transformer looks bulky enough to run LED lights as well, but it isn’t: I blew it, and had to find something with a simialr spec off ebay that’s large and has a fan in it.

      BAD POINTS
Three bulky objects, including the one your subject sits on.
You have to connect them with wires.
You have to invent some kind of cake plate or CD or something to put on top. I just let it show in the photos, but maybe a really large one or a glass one could be made invisible.

      GOOD POINTS
Cheaper than the millionare brands like Otery
Still working after – I dunno – seven years
      Adjustable

I haven’t found a cheap China product on ebay but there probably is one, or a way of adapting one. It would have to stop and make a noise, perhaps, or do something to tigger a smartphone camera. Price probably a tenth of what I pad.

I have some Arqspin turntables, the 24″ holds 300lbs. If you can get your hands on one they’re great.
