Sony 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS Sony Lens Review and First Impressions.

About ¬†week ago I’ve got Sony 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OOS lens, and this is my first impressions and my Sony Lens Review:

The lens is retractable, which is great for carrying the camera concealed and usually bad for image quality.  I can tell you now is that the Sony 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OOS lens has huge barrel distortion and has quite heavy vignetting. No complaints, great result for the retractable zoom for $300.

I waited for it for almost 2 months :-)

But man, the camera looks so sexy with¬†this¬†black lens! I’ve ¬†snapped quick shots in the studio (you can see by the amount of dust on the¬†table¬†how quick I was:-) ¬†with lens in and out, check it out:

Instead of writing the sony lens review, I am talking in front of the camera. Here we go:

Not bad for $300 lens on a little 24Mpx sensor.

The verdict:

The lest is good for $300 zoom, especially when you know where to wash your hands!

Where to buy it:

On Amazon: Sony SELP1650 16-50mm Power Zoom Lens

On BHphotovideo.com (my favorite online store): Sony 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS Alpha E-mount Retractable Zoom Lens

All the best to everyone:-)

P.S More reviews for mirrorless cameras I have:

  1. Hi Alex does the NEX 7 and 6 have the lens correction in camera or must I use Adobe Photoshop to correct it?

I am considering getting the NEX 6 and it comes with this lens bundled in. Sony also has another dual lens kit with the 50-200 bundled in. Have you tried this telephoto zoom? Any comments?

    Thanks.

  2. Nice review, thank you. I was looking for something similar and it¬īs difficult to find on the web. I¬īll definitely change my Sony A850 for the Nex 7 with de 16-50 lens. I want something small, with good video cuality and a lot of controls, like the NEX 7.

    Regards from Spain ;-)
